DOCG BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO : 50 YEARS OF HISTORY
The Designation of Origin for the Sangiovese grape variety was granted by the Decree of the President of the Republic in March 1966. It was officially known as Brunello di Montalcino.
To celebrate the important 50th anniversary of designation, the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium wanted to involve the Artistic and Cultural community in the creation of a symbol that represents the creative local culture which developed Brunello di Montalcino wine, itself a work of art.
During
Welcome Brunello 2016, which took place February 19-22, 2016 in
Montalcino, we presented the latest vintage of the Brunello wine, the
Brunello 2011 and a preview of the Brunello 2015. At the same time,
there was a presentation of the 2015 Plaque, which was designed by five
of the most popular and important representatives of the world
renowned contemporary art scene, for this special occasion.
Sandro Chia who is an artist, painter, sculptor, one of the protagonists of the Italian Transavantgarde, and an investigator of Art in its various forms, as part of a continuous journey into the unconsciousness of the world seeking new flows and exchanges of inspiration and knowledge. Mr. Chia is a promoter of the project and is also producer of Castello di Romitorio, an excellent Brunello di Montalcino.
